030 Future Space Pavillion

Milan, Italy

A temporary wooden installation in the historic courtyard of Ca’ Granda at the University of Milan, reinterpreting Renaissance proportions through a contemporary spatial structure.

The project is a temporary installation located in the historic courtyard of Ca’ Granda at the University of Milan, developed for Fuorisalone 2018 during Salone del Mobile Milano. It reinterprets the proportions, symmetry, and geometric clarity of Renaissance architecture through a contemporary spatial composition.

The structure is composed of 1,600 wooden elements assembled into three independent wings that progressively rise and rotate, forming a pyramidal configuration. The installation explores wood as both a construction material and a spatial medium, pushing beyond conventional architectural limits to create an immersive experience.

Inside, the perforated wooden structure filters natural light, generating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow that defines the atmosphere of the space. Three openings articulate the volume: one functions as the main entrance, while the other two frame views toward the university courtyard and the surrounding Fuorisalone installations, reinforcing the dialogue between the installation and its historic context.
