008 Mirror Houses

Bolzano, Italy

Two independent units designed as private living spaces, integrated into the Dolomites landscape.

Designed for a client living in a 1960s farmhouse on-site, the project features two autonomous rental units with private gardens, independent access, and parking. Each unit includes an open-plan kitchen and living area, a bedroom, and a bathroom, all enhanced by large operable skylights for natural light and ventilation. A small basement provides additional storage.

The volumes are staggered in height and length to create a light, articulated composition. Both units are elevated on a raised base, offering impressive views from cantilevered terraces. The east-facing façade features a large glass wall that smoothly transitions into a sleek black aluminum shell with curvilinear lines. The mirrored glass on the west façade reflects the surrounding landscape and pool, blending the units discreetly into the environment.

This project harmoniously integrates contemporary design with its natural Alpine setting, prioritizing guest privacy and immersion in nature.
